Physics in the Hills

PU-Hills

Escape with us for the weekend. Stay in a beautiful and remote cottage in the Brecon Beacons, go walking during the day then learn about space and astronomy whilst sat under the stars. Perfect.

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT.

When?

From 5pm on Friday 24 April until 1pm on Sunday 26 April 2015.

Where?

In the heart of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales. The nearest train station is Abergavenny, just a few hours from London, Manchester and Cardiff and roughly 15 miles from the Farm.

Do I need to be a physicist?

No. Experience of physics or astronomy is not needed but we guess you will naturally have an interest in both and want to learn more…and probably like walking too.

Who else will be there?

A small group of 15 to 20 people (excluding the Physics Unbound team). You can get as involved as much or as little as you want. Come on your own or with friends and partners. Age 16+.

What will we do?

Friday evening – Arrive, settle in and relax and explore for a while. We will then have dinner and a short welcome session by our host, comedian Rik Moore and our three lovely physicists Chris North (from the Sky at Night), Jenifer Millard, and Ben Still. Click here for more information about the team.

Saturday – Breakfast, followed by walking in the stunning hills surrounding the Farm (medium ability, 6 to 8 miles). Arrive back and relax for a few hours before having dinner and getting down to a good stargazing session (weather permitting). We will have short talks about the universe, galaxies, the solar system and a host of others amazing things.

Sunday morning – Breakfast followed by a chat about what we’ve covered and where you can find more information. A little more exploring time, lunch and home.

How much does it cost?

– £210 per person (for the package with private double rooms). £265 per person for single occupancy of double rooms.

– £145 per person (for the package with bunk beds)

What is included?

Activities, accommodation, food, drinks and towels. Travel is not included.

What facilities are there?

The accommodation is a newly renovated farm. Each bedroom differs but all are lovely. There are beautiful log fires and other homely touches but no en-suite bathrooms.

How do I book?

Bookings are now closed.

* Please contact us if you have any questions about access to the venue or special dietary requirements.

** A refund is available for cancellations until 11.59pm on the 21 March 2015.
